On Thursday, November 3rd, 2005 Virginia Zaharieva gave a presentation
about her work in sound art. Her work involves sound taken from
field recordings in nature and in public places. Constantly taken
by the sounds around her, she because inspired to capture them
in order to be able to bring them home with her. She has released
and produced several album of Bulgarian soundscape. Recently she
has been researching means of manipulating her field recordings
and has visited several sound art events in order to search for
possibilities. Zaharieva began as a more traditional sound artist
and is now coming into a new media practice. She shared her newest
newest field recordings with us and compared them to some of her
past works. The discussion adressed her shift from traditional
recording and gave some suggestions of what directions to take
